Local SEO Case Study: From 1,265 to 32,171 Google Impressions a Month

By Provello Team20 September 2026

Most SEO case studies show you the finish line. This one shows the whole race, including the part where nothing appeared to be happening. The business is a local repair company in Northern Ireland. We are not naming it, but the numbers are real and come straight from Google Search Console.

Where it started

In June 2025 the site appeared in Google searches 1,265 times in the month and was clicked 5 times. Its average position was around 60, which means page six. In practical terms it was invisible.

What we did

We are not going to publish the playbook. It is how we make a living, and it is different for every business anyway. What we can say is that there were no tricks involved: no paid links, no keyword stuffing, nothing that the next Google update could undo. It was careful, unglamorous work on the site itself, done consistently.

The timeline nobody tells you about

  • June to August 2025: almost flat. Between 1,200 and 1,900 impressions a month. This is the stage where most businesses give up.
  • September 2025: the first jump, to around 5,500. Google had started to trust the new pages.
  • January 2026: past 10,000 a month.
  • June 2026: past 20,000.
  • August 2026: 32,171 impressions and 170 clicks in the month. Average position had moved from around 60 to around 13, with several high-intent "near me" searches on page one.

That is a 25 times increase in visibility in 14 months.

The lessons

First, the quiet three months at the start are normal. Google takes time to crawl, assess and trust new pages. We wrote more about this in how long does SEO take.

Second, the work compounds. Nothing we did in month one paid off in month one. The gains in year two came from foundations laid in the first few months.

Third, impressions come before clicks, and clicks come before enquiries. Rising impressions with a poor position mean you are being considered. The work after that is getting from page two to page one, where the clicks are.
